5 New Ways You Should Be Using PlayPosit

Example showcase of five PlayPosit bulbs instructors can use as models for their own courses. 

At times, the best way to learn something new is to see it in action. With that in mind, we’ve put together a showcase of five PlayPosit bulbs to help you better understand how bulbs can be used in unique ways in both your live and asynchronous courses.

  1. Timeline/Demonstration of Every Interaction

    Positioned within a course on Anime and Visual Culture, this bulb is an interactive learning activity designed to follow up on ideas and examples from a course reading on the development of anime over time. It features many videos weaved together with every style of interaction PlayPosit allows while incorporating feedback, hotspots and more.

  2. Table of Contents Review

    In this bulb, you’ll find a demonstration of the new Table of Contents template, which creates a list from the videos and interactions you’ve already added to your bulb. Using this template for reviews enables your students to go directly to the part of your review that is most pertinent to them.

  3. Interactive Syllabus

    Interactive Syllabi are great for eliminating repeated syllabi questions. By making your syllabus interactive, your students will be engaged as they learn about your course. Learn more about how to create your own interactive syllabus.

  4. Broadcast Bulb: Attention Getter/Attendance

    Broadcast is PlayPosit’s answer for creating engagement in live classes, in-person or remotely over Zoom. Sharing bulbs though Broadcast allows students to watch videos together as a class, answering questions along the way using their computer, tablet or phone. Unlike Clickers, Broadcast is a great way to add engagement with no cost for your students. The example above is used to help a class focus while taking attendance.   5. Learner-Made Bulb (LMB): Graduate Seminar Reading Assignment

    Graduate Seminar Chapter Review LMB Demo Assignment

    After reading your assigned chapter from Orientalism by Edward Said, prepare the following:

    • A 3-8 min video presentation explaining notable theoretical concepts, important quotes, and other intellectual notions relevant to our module themes of repression, bias, and literary theory. Feel free to explore related ideas from other concepts we have covered in this course.
      • Make this video by creating a PPTX and recording your presentation using Panopto.
    • Use the Panopto recording of your presentation to create a PlayPosit bulb using the link above.
      • Be sure to include 2-3 questions for your peers to consider as interactions built into your PlayPosit bulb.

    Your PlayPosit bulb must be submitted by Friday at noon to allow time for your peers to view each others' bulbs.

Empower your students to teach each other with Learner-Made Bulbs. Adding a Learner-Made Bulb to your course gives your students access to the PlayPosit Bulb Designer. Once students create their bulbs using the Designer, you will be able to grade them, copy them, and share them with your class. This example assignment is designed to help graduate students not only prepare for their in-class discussion of the assigned readings, but practice teaching each other while learning how to develop asynchronous content for their future courses.
